Julian Hornik is a composer, lyricist, and librettist based in Brooklyn, NY. He wrote the music and lyrics for Giovanni's Room, an adaptation of the James Baldwin novel, and Tenn, a new musical based on the early life of Tennessee Williams, which premiered at Symphony Space in NY as a part of “Project Broadway,” and was subsequently produced at Yale’s Whitney Theater. He has performed his songs at NY City Center (with Sutton Foster and Jonathan Groff), The Kennedy Center, and with the Los Angeles and San Francisco Gay Men’s Choruses. Other credits include jingles for Disney and Fresh & Easy supermarkets. He is the assistant writer on an upcoming feature film, produced by A24, Scott Rudin, and Loveless Media. A recent graduate of Yale University, Julian studied composition and playwriting with the Shen Curriculum for Musical Theater. He is the recipient of the 2017 Lucille and Jack Yellen Award from the ASCAP Foundation, and the Norman Holmes Pearson Prize.
